Giants pull off triple play

05/31/2008 - San Francisco, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Francisco Giants pulled off a triple play in the eighth inning of their game against the San Diego Padres Friday night.

Alex Hinshaw walked Brian Giles to start the inning and Adrian Gonzalez followed with a single to left. Keiichi Yabu was then summoned from the bullpen and he got Kevin Kouzmanoff to hit a ball toward third base. Jose Castillo stepped on the base, threw to second baseman Ray Durham for the force play and the return throw to John Bowker at first easily got Kouzmanoff.

It was the first triple play completed by the Giants since a June 14, 1999 contest at Colorado, and the first at home by the team since Oct. 3, 1980, against San Diego at Candlestick Park.

It was the second triple play in the majors this year. Cleveland's Asdrubal Cabrera turned an unassisted one on May 12 versus Toronto.
